This was the best show ever! Really. As I think about it this morning, it's a great commentary on how we all have good and bad in us. It's what we choose to do about it. Wicked is also about a difficult but rewarding friendship, and we've all had one of those in our lives. There's also some political undertones that were fun. The music is fantastic, the dialogue was cleverly written, and the characters are well-developed. It's just an excellent show. It's also light and funny, not dark and depressing.

It Was Awesome!!

Summer Can't Come Soon Enough!
My parents gave us gift cards to Sportsman's Warehouse for Christmas, intending that we would use them for water storage jugs or something practical like that. Last week I heard on the news that the company had been sold, and previously purchased gift cards would no longer be accepted! We freaked out, ran in there on Saturday, and came out with something completely IMPRACTICAL....
A kids' wakeboard. Right now they're excited. We'll see how they feel when they are holding a rope 50 feet away from the boat!

About Austin....The first day we were absolutely appalled, and convinced we could never live there. It's brown, flat, humid, and everything looks like a one-story strip mall. The grocery stores were crammed with junk in the front (think Big Lots), and it was just UGLY!
We went over to John's office and looked around. It's a small site, only about 130 employees so far, but he felt comfortable. We talked to the Facilities Manager, who loves Austin, and even offered to sell us his home. We were invited to lunch with some executives who were really positive about Austin. (They wear cowboy boots and drive big Ford F-250s.) John felt really good about the job there, and we feel like this move may turn out to be a great opportunity for his career.
After meeting with a couple of realtors, we explored a lot of neighborhoods that are within about 20 minutes from HP. We don't want a long commute. There are nice neighborhoods with community pools, parks, walking trails, and green spaces. We met with several builders and walked through a dozen model homes. Then we attended three different wards. The church is the same, no matter where you go!
We did not go down into the downtown/university area of town at all, since that isn't where we'd live or probably visit very much. We can leave all the "Keep Austin Weird" stuff to explore with the kids when we move there.
So, we're moving....Anyone want to buy our house???

Airline Rant
Now that all the airlines charge to check bags, everyone fills up the overhead storage bins with huge luggage, trying to avoid any extra charges. And since the planes are so stinking full, there's hardly any room for the people! But for future reference, if you wait until it's almost time to board, United will offer to check your bags for free to make more space on the plane. I made John check our bags today. By the way, the airport is BORING!

Nothing "Blogworthy"
I apologize for not posting....It's been a very dull couple of weeks around here. We are traveling to Austin for the weekend to see how we feel about moving our family there. YEEHAW! We'll be "deep in the heart of Texas." At least it's 80 degrees and I can swim in a pool while we're there.
