Swimming...in March

While the pool is not heated, the weather has been beautiful, so the kids like to go swim anyway.  John keeps saying, "Why can't it be nice like this all year?  Why does it have to get hot?"

Spelunking

Just north of our new home, there is a town called Georgetown, and cave called the Inner Space Caverns. It was discovered in 1963 when they were building I-35, and it's just off the freeway. This cave is the only privately owned cave in the country, and they do tours down into it. At its deepest, it is only 75 feet under ground, and the people who run it have done a really good job of making it accessible, with paved paths, tour guides, lighting, and a little tram to take you inside. We had a great time with the kids, learning about caves and seeing some very cool calcite and dolomite formations.

When stalactites and stalagmites meet, they form a column.

They called these things hanging from the ceiling "soda straws" because they are hollow inside.

We were expressly forbidden to touch anything in the cave because the oil and dirt from your hands will cause the formations to stop growing--it kills them.  This was the only place in the cave you could touch the formations.

Seth loved looking at the pictures in the brochure and trying to find the same places in the cave.

Called "The Flowing Stone of Time," this formation has water and calcite rippling down in waves.

This was called "The Lady of the Lake."

Our Yard Is In!

Hannah said, "Now that there is grass, it looks so much more ALIVE!" 

I completely agree.  And closer to move-in!

The Mundaneness of Everyday Life

It's raining outside, so the Things made forts.  As long as they do their school work inside, I guess it's fine.
