Candy Heaven

Our kids have worn their costumes three times this week and collected so much candy that we had to send most of it back out to other trick-or-treaters tonight. I'm a mean mom and I don't let them keep it all. I can't stand the ongoing sugar high. I let the kids choose out a baggie full and eat it all gone, but the rest leaves the house. Hopefully, what they picked out will be gone by tomorrow night, so we can start the detox on Sunday!

While Halloween is my least favorite holiday, my kids love trick-or-treating, wearing their costumes, parties and carving pumpkins. Halloween really is a kid holiday, and seeing it through their eyes almost makes me want to wear a costume next year. We'll see.

Halloween and the Election

It's not my fault they are so close together!

Chain Letters

When you were a kid did you ever get those chain letters you had to copy and then mail out to all your friends? The turn-of-the-century version would be those dumb emails ("don't break the chain") that come to your inbox, which are the equivalent of spam, but sent by your friends. Now, the 2008 version would be tagging people on your blog. No, I won't give in! I don't need my quirks published in the blogosphere for all to read. If you know me, you already know the weird things about me. And sorry for that!

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday we took the kids around the corner to a little pumpkin patch we learned about from a friend. The lady was super nice, and the kids had a great time roaming around the field finding their "perfect" pumpkin. Seth wanted a small one, and it may actually be a gourd, which means you can't carve it. (Gourds are too hard.)

"This is the one I want!"

"I got it!"

"Big pumpkin!" 135 pounds, actually.

Usually every year we take the kids to Bauman Farms in Canby, but this year, they were perfectly content with the trip around the corner.
